We use our flying pig daily. With two Labradors, it's either swimming in the spring and summer or muddy fields in fall and winter.
With so much use over 4 years, I thought maybe the brushes needed replacement, but I didn't really know what they were. They're two little pieces of metal behind a spring that pushes them against some spinning part of the motor.
It turns out mine have a ton of material left over. Opening it up did give me the chance to blow all the dust out, and that was definitely needed.
